G20 Summit: Mega Event Hosted By India, Welcoming International Leaders

The G20 Summit, hosted at Bharat Mandapam, promises a whirlwind of diplomatic activity. Leaders and heads of delegations are set to arrive at the venue, engage in welcome photographs with Prime Minister Modi, and gather in the Leaders' Lounge.  The summit kicks off with Session 1: "One Earth" at Summit Hall, followed by a working lunch. Bilateral meetings occupy the afternoon, leading to Session II: "One Family."

Taking to his official X handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8, confirmed his meetings with Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and US President Joe Biden. PM Narendra Modi is set to meet US President Joe Biden at his residence, where the two leaders will hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. In total, PM will hold 14 bilateral meetings.

Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Rs 1,164.53 Crores For Development Scheme

After the Himachal Pradesh disaster, the State Cabinet approved an additional allocation of Rs 1,164.53 crore for an industrial development scheme 2017 for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The additional fund was required to meet the committed liabilities under the scheme up to 2028-29. Under this scheme, the total financial outlay was Rs 131.90 crore, Union Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters after the meeting.

Jet Fuel Prices Hiked By 26% For Third Consecutive Time

Government has increased the jet fuel price also known as Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by 14 per cent to ₹1.12 lakh per kilo litre in Delhi. This is the highest level since December 2022. SC Hears J&K Bifurcation, Article 370, Questions Centre

The Supreme Court reviewed plea challenging the Jammu and Kashmir bifurcation. The Supreme Court pointed out yesterday, questioning the need for bifurcation of the border state in August 2019. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud also questioned how to ensure that the power to bifurcate a state will not be "misused" once it is conceded to the Central government, a point of discussion into the matter.

New Bill Proposed In Parliament, To Replace CJI In Selection Panel

In the Monsoon Parliament Session, a new Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The bill proposed to replace the Chief Justice of India (CJI) in the selection panel for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Elections Commissioners (ECs).
