New Study Finds Taking Break From Social Media Improves Mental Health
A new study has found that taking a break from social media helps improve one's mental health. The findings of the study have been published in 'Cyberpsychology Behaviour and Social Networking.' Around 154 social media users were put into an intervention and a control group at random, as a part of the research. "Many of our participants reported positive effects from being off social media," concludes Dr Jeff Lambert.

Section 144 Imposed In Rajasthan's Karauli Amid Communal Violence
Authorities imposed a curfew and the internet was also shut down in Rajasthan’s Karauli, on April 2. In addition, restrictions have been imposed due to communal clashes in the area. About two dozen people were injured in the violence while 30 people were detained, informed Additional Director General of Police. Notably, CM Ashok Gehlot appealed to contribute and play a constructive role in building peace and development in the state.

West Bengal Suspends Internet Facilities In Some Districts To Check Illegal Activities
The West Bengal government announced an eight-day suspension of internet facilities in seven districts. The Home and Hill Affairs Department WB, Additional Chief Secretary released a statement, "The restriction will be imposed in a few blocks of Malda, Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Darjeeling On March 7 to 9, March 11 and 12, and on March 15 and 16 from 11:oo AM to 3:15 PM."

Free Internet Connection To 100 BPL Families By May: Kerala CM
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will be providing free internet to 100 BPL families in every assembly constituency by May 2022. Kerala Fiber Optic Network will provide high-speed internet for free to 20 lakh BPL families at affordable rates. "Of the 30,000 government offices, 3,019 have been given connectivity," CM said. Installation of wire of 2045 km has been completed out of 2600 km and 3000-5000 offices are added every month.

Indian government requested citizens not to subscribe ''Starlink'', a satellite-based internet service launched by Elon Musk in India. The company has so far not acquired the requisite license to offer the service, informed the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on November 26. RailTel Corporation Starts Paid Wi-Fi Plans At 4,073 Railway Stations
The RailTel Corporation of India has launched high-speed paid Wi-Fi services at 4,073 railway stations. The pre-paid plan will offer 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi a day at 1 mbps. However, at an extra fee, one can avail higher speed up to 34 mbps. The plans range from Rs 10 for 5GB/day to Rs 60 for 30GB/day, which can be paid online. RailTel expects an annual revenue of Rs 10-15 crore after lockdown is eased.
