N Biren Singh Takes Oath As Chief Minister Of Manipur

N Biren Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur, on March 21, for a second term. After taking the oath, CM Biren Singh said, "I would work day and night to wash out corruption from the state". He also emphasized on the need to make Manipur drug-free. Notably, BJP leader N Biren Singh was named as the legislative leader during the BJP meeting, by FM Nirmala Sitharaman.

BJP Elects N Biren Singh As Manipur CM For 2nd Term

N Biren Singh has been named as the BJP CM of Manipur, for a second term. On March 20, unanimously. Union FM Nirmala Sitharaman visited Manipur, on behalf of the Central Government and ensured stable government under the leadership of the BJP.  "It is a good decision taken unanimously by everyone," said Sitharaman. Notably, the BJP won Manipur Assembly elections 2022 by winning 32 of 60 Assembly seats.

BJP Names N Biren Singh, Pramod Sawant As Manipur & Goa CM

As per sources, BJP plans to give CM seat of Manipur to N Biren Singh and Goa seat to Pramod Sawant after massive win in General Assembly Elections in both the states. In addition, The oath-taking ceremonies in both states will take place after Holi. Notably, N Biren Singh had served as the Chief Minister of Manipur from 2017 to 2022 and Pramod Sawant for Goa from 2019 to 2022.

Election Results 2022, BJP Emerges As Big Winner In 4 Poll Bound State

After rounds of counting in Manipur and Uttarakhand, the Election Commission of India (ECI) confirmed the majority seats to the BJP. While the national government party secured 20 seats in Uttarakhand, it won 17 seats in Manipur. On March 10, the ECI officials started counting votes in the five polls-bound states, UP, Manipur, Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand, of which except Punjab all the four states is expecting BJP government.

Over 11% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 9 AM In Manipur Assembly Polls

Around 11.40% voter turnout was recorded till 9 a.m, on March 5, in the second and final phase of the Manipur Assembly polls conducted in 22 of the 60 constituencies. In addition, a highest voter turnout of 13.94% was recorded in Senapati and a lowest of 8.75% was recorded in Tamenglong. Notably, the voting began at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm.

67.53% Voter Turnout Till 3 Pm Amid Violence: Manipur Elections 2022

A voter turnout of 67.53% from 38 constituencies was recorded till 3 pm for the first phase of voting in Manipur elections. In addition, Kangpokpi district recorded the highest voters turnout at 76.74%. Moreover, BJP has fielded candidates in all the 38 seats, Congress with 35 contestants, and the rest with 75 seats. Notably, Polling will end at 4 pm and COVID-19 patients can vote between 3-4 pm.

BJP on February 16, released the party manifesto for Manipur Assembly elections, scheduled on February 28 and March 5.
