TV Debates Create More Air Pollution; Everybody Runs Own Agenda: SC
The Supreme Court on November 17 said that TV debates are creating air pollution and everybody is running "their own agenda". The Court gives its observations when the Centre's advocate Tushar Mehta said television debates are claiming that he "misled the Court on stubble burning," contributing to air pollution. ''We weren't misled at all. You said 10% but...in the affidavit, it was 30 to 40%,'' replied the court.

Delhi Govt To Ban Diesel Generators & Hike Parking Fees To Curb Pollution
Delhi Government on November 9 issued directions to ban diesel generators and hike parking fees in the entire city. Over 75% Children Report Breathlessness In Delhi's Air: Study
In the latest study conducted by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), it's been found that more than 75% of the children feel suffocation in Delhi's air. Reportedly, 413 children between the age of 14-17 years participated in the health survey. Meanwhile, 75.4% of children reported breathlessness, 24.4% complained of itchy eyes, 22.3% complained of runny nose daily, and 20.9% complained of coughing in the morning.

Obese Children Are More Likely To Develop Asthma, Claims Study
According to research, air pollution and obesity are closely linked. Around 39.8% of children in Delhi were obese as compared to 16.4% in Kottayam and Mysuru where the quality of air is better. The researchers claim that obese children are 79% more likely to develop 'asthma'. “The burden of asthma is also much higher... a prevalence of nearly 40% among boys,” said Arvind Kumar, founder of Lung Care Foundation.

Maharashtra Has Highest Polluted Rivers; About 53 Rivers Impure
According to a report by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), there are 351 polluted rivers across the States and Union Territories. Notably, of which Maharashtra has the highest number of polluted rivers, that is 53, followed by Assam (44), Madhya Pradesh (22), Kerala (21), Gujrat (20), and others. Reportedly, the major cause of the contamination is the discharge of sewage water into the river.

64% Of Global Arable Land At Pesticide Pollution Risk; Asia Worst Sufferer
A study published in Nature Geoscience has revealed that around 64% of the world’s total arable land is exposed to pesticide pollution.
