Two Students In Hostel Fall Off Second Floor After Scuffle During B'day Party: Punjab

In Punjab's Jalandhar, a birthday party turned tragic, when two boys in hostel entered into a scuffle, which ended in both falling off the second floor. Reportedly, the clash sparked due to an issue of contribution of money. While one died on spot, the other is undergoing treatment. Both the students hailed from Bihar, and a case under Section 304 of IPC has been filed against the hospitalised boy.

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi To Be Presented Before Amritsar Court; Security Heightened

Since gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the Sidhu Moose Wala murder suspect was taken to the State Special Operation Cell, security has been stepped up in Amritsar. On June 28, Bishnoi will be presented in court in Amritsar. Supreme Court of India announced on June 27 that it will review the petition of accused Lawrence Bishnoi's father appealing the transit remand to Punjab police on July 11.

PM Modi Dials Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, Enquiry About Recent Spinal Surgery

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh to enquire about his health condition. Amarinder Singh successfully underwent a spinal surgery in a hospital in London, on June 25. Singh heads the Punjab Lok Congress outfit, which was an ally of BJP in the assembly polls held recently. Amarinder Singh (80) is a military historian who served as the 15th CM of Punjab.

Punjab's Sangrur Constituency Conducts By Election, 16 Candidates In Fray

In Punjab's Sangrur, voting started from 7 am-6 pm, for by-poll assembly elections. On June 23, AAP, BJP and Congress are in the fray for the Lok Sabha seat. Approximately 15,69,240 voters will decide the fate of 16 candidates, including three women in today's election.  The Election Commission imposed tight security, at all the voting booths, in Sangrur. Furthermore, the results of the by-election will be announced on June 26.

Japan's renowned ISE Foods Inc, has launched the sale of eggs in India. The company is Japan's largest and the world's fifth largest egg producer. The eggs will reportedly be sold at selected stores in Chandigarh and Delhi NCR. The eggs will be priced at Rs 110 for a pack of six. "We want our safe eggs to be eaten by your beloved ones," said Mitsuko Takahashi, COO, ISE India.

Punjab & Haryana HC: Muslim Girls Can Marry Of Their Own Free Will At 16

Punjab and Haryana High Court on June 20 declared that a Muslim girl above the age of 16 is eligible to enter into a marriage contract with a person of her preference citing Sharia Law. The ruling was issued in response to petition filed by Pathankot-based Muslim couple aged 16 and 21 years seeking protection from court. The court has ordered the SSP Pathankot to provide the couple with security.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested by Delhi police for allegedly issuing threats to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and famous Punjabi singer Mankirat Aulakh. Police stated that after the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala, various social media accounts have been issuing threats to VIPs. During questioning, the 17-year-old boy said that he is a fan of Sidhu Moosewala and that he wanted to be famous on social media.

Punjab Police Arrest 3 Drug Peddlers, Seize 2 Kg Heroin

Acting on a tip-off, Punjab police arrested three drug peddlers and seized 2 Kg of heroin from their possession, on June 10. Reportedly, the arrests were made under Tharaj police station in Moga's Baghapurana. The accused have been identified as Jaswant Singh alias Kala, Sukhchain Singh alias Sonu and Satnam Singh. According to the police Jaswant and Sukhchain are already facing criminal charges.
