Supreme Court on August 12 ruled all sexual harassment cases should be heard in closed sessions and sexual assault victims should not be asked improper pointed questions. The bench expressed disappointment that judicial processes in such circumstances tend to be more onerous for complainants who are already suffering from trauma and societal humiliation. Fake antique dealer Monson Mavunkal has been denied bail by Kerala High Court, on July 14. Mavunkal was arrested in multiple sexual assault cases, which include a POCSO case. "Money, politics and the police force are invested to throw the petitioners behind bars," contended Mavunkal's counsel. Furthermore, Mavunkal has also been accused for making crores of rupees by selling fake antiques.

Vijay Babu, the actor-producer, appeared at Ernakulam Town South PS for seventh day in a row for questioning in connection with a sexual assault charge. The judge ordered him to appear in court from June 27 to July 3 and granted him anticipatory bail. To spare the group from "disgrace," the actor claimed he will remain away from Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes' Executive Committee until he is found innocent.  

Actor-producer Vijay Babu, who has been charged with sexually abusing a female actress, arrived in Kerala from Dubai on June 1, a day after Kerala High Court gave him temporary protection from arrest. Babu released the actor's name on social media hours after the complaint was filed, claiming that he was the true victim. After the Kochi city police opened a case against him, Babu fled the country, fearing arrest.
