Special Public Prosecutor in the murder case of journalist Gauri Lankesh presented a witness list to Bengaluru City Civil and Sessions Court on June 4. The hearing has been rescheduled to June 6 to allow for filing of any arguments to the plea. Trial will take place from July 4 to 8. Gauri was shot at her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bangalore, on September 5, 2017, by three unidentified men.

In a bizarre incident in Thane, Kashinath Pandurang Patil (76) allegedly opened fire at his daughter-in-law, for not serving breakfast to him. On April 15, senior inspector Santosh Ghatekar registered an FIR under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) besides the Arms Act, filed by the accused another daughter-in-law. Sunil Agrawal, a restaurant owner in Greater Noida was shot dead on August 31 night over a delayed food delivery. According to police, three men who came to take food delivery got into an argument with the restaurant's staff and created chaos. However, the police have arrested all the three accused. Moreover, responding to the incident, food delivery company Swiggy stated that they will cooperate with the investigation.

Bihar BJP spokesperson Azfar Shamsi was shot at by some criminals on January 27 in Munger district’s Jamalpur. The criminals opened fire when Azfar, an Associate Professor, was heading towards his chamber at the Jamalpur College. He was rushed to a hospital and is said to be in a critical condition. In Jammu and Kashmir, three BJP Workers were killed on October 29 by unidentified terrorists in Qazigund area of Kulgam district. The BJP workers are identified as Fida Hussain Yatoo, Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam. Police rushed them to the hospital but they were declared brought dead. An FIR has been filled against the culprits and a joint team of security forces is probing the matter.
