'1913 Stolen Annapurna Idol' to be Repatriated from Canada
An idol of Hindu Goddess Annapurna, which was stolen in 1913, is expected to be deported from an art gallery in Canada's Thomas Chase University to Kashi, soon. The idol had a virtual repatriation ceremony which was attended by India's High Commissioner to Canada and the varsity's Vice-Chancellor. Canadian Artist Divya Mehra noticed the statue in MacKenzie's permanent collection, which according to the gallery was a part of his 1936 bequest.
