5 Circuses' Registrations Cancelled Over Animal Rights Violations
Citing animal rights violations, the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has scrapped the registration of five Indian circuses - Ahmedabad's Great Golden, Kanpur's Asiad and Rayman, Delhi's Apollo and Kolkata's Nataraj. The board responding to Delhi High Court’s recommendation have issued show-cause notices under various animal protection acts. Additionally, it asked the Animal Husbandry Ministry to review the implementation of Performing Animals (Registration) Rules, 2001.
