Chhattisgarh: Village Sarpanch's Husband Allegedly Killed by Maoists
The husband of Karhi village’s sarpanch in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district was killed by Maoists on November 3. The victim, identified as Niresh Kumar Kunjam (35), was allegedly suspected of being a police informer. The police found a handwritten pamphlet on a tree near the dead body in which Maoists claimed responsibility of the murder. “It seems that Kunjam was strangled, but exact cause of death will be known once post-mortem report arrives,” an official informed.
