Tamil Nadu Govt Reverses 100% Theatre Occupancy Decision To 50%

The Tamil Nadu government on January 8 overturned the 100% theatre occupancy decision to 50%. The decision came after the Union Home Ministry wrote to the state asking to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines. However, the state has allowed extra shows to satiate the expected rush. Earlier, the state government had allowed the full occupancy on the demand of film fraternity to increase the footfall ahead of Pongal festival.
