SC Directs Bombay HC To Hear Anil Deshmukh's Bail Plea In Money Laundering Case
The apex court has expeditiously directed the Bombay High Court to hear the bail plea of Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh, in the ongoing money laundering case. The directions have come after Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal representing Deshmukh, appealed to the SC bench, stating, "he (Deshmukh) is a very sick man and 73, years old". Deshmukh was arrested after he failed to comply with the ED summons five times.

Bombay HC Refuses Permission To Terminate Pregnancy Of Teen Rape Survivor
The Bombay High Court reviewed a petition filed by the parents of a teenager rape survivor (16) seeking permission to terminate the 29-week pregnancy. On May 10, the HC refused to grant permission and ordered the Maharashtra Government to admit the girl to an NGO in Mumbai till her delivery, and asked to pay her interim compensation of Rs 50,000. Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Madhav Jamdar heard the plea.

BJP Leader Kirit Somaiya To Approach Bombay HC Against Maha Govt
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya is going to approach the Bombay High Court against the Maharashtra government and a Shiv Sena MLA, alleging that the construction of the Vihang Garden in Thane was unauthorized. He shared that he would be filing a petition in the Bombay High in this regard around the afternoon on 30th April. He asserted that the protection provided to builder Pratap Sarnik is illegal.

No Interim Relief For Hanuman Chalisa Row MLA Couple
The Mumbai sessions court did not grant any interim relief to the "Hanuman Chalisa" couple. Furthermore, the couple has been sent to judicial custody till the next court hearing, which is slated for 29th April. The couple's advocate Rizwan Merchant, shared, "We will ask the police why the sedition charge was added," before adding, "Also, a withdrawal of plea is under process at the Bombay High Court."

Bombay HC To Hear Anil Deshmukh's Medical Emergency Plea
In a relief to former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh, the Bombay High Court (HC) on April 8, agreed to hear his medical emergency plea. The court asked Anil's advocate to submit the details of his medical emergency and adjourned the bail plea matter for hearing after two weeks. Furthermore, the court stated that it will hear the bail plea on medical grounds and not on merit.

Bombay HC Directs MSRTC Employees To Resume Duties By April 15

EX Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh In CBI Custody
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken the custody of ex-Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh in the corruption charges. Initially, he was remanded under Mumbai Police's custody in Arthur Road Jail, but the CBI filed a petition seeking Deshmukh's custody in the corruption charges filed by former Mumbai Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Furthermore, Deshmukh has moved the HC, challenging the plea, which would be heard on April 6.

Bandh Against Lakhimpur Violence Not Sponsered By State: Maharashtra Govt
The Bombay HC reviewed a petition filed by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, alleging that the Maharashtra Government was behind the October 2021 protest regarding the Lakhimpur violence incident. However, the Maha-Vikas Aghadi government denied the allegations and said, "No cabinet decision was taken to call for a statewide bandh”. Notably, the October 11, 2021 bandh resulted in the loss of Rs 3,000 Crore to the public exchequer.

Bombay HC Reserves Verdict In NCP Leader's Money Laundering Case
The verdict of the alleged money laundering case against NCP leader Nawab Malik has been reserved for March 15, at 10:30 am. The Bombay HC, on March 11 reviewed Malik's bail plea in ED money extortion case and reserved the verdict. Notably, Malik is under the ED custody till March 21 in the alleged connection with underworld Dawood Ibrahim. However, NCP leader challenged the arrest to be illegal and sought immediate release.
