PMLA Court Allows Renal Scan For Nawab Mallick In Judicial Custody
A special PMLA court allowed former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, to undergo a renal scan. Notably Malik is under judicial custody in connection with a money laundering case, investigated by ED and CBI. The court had last month also permitted NCP leader Malik to undergo the renal scan, which got cancelled after Malik suffered from fever and other health issues. Special court judge RN Rokade permitted renal scan.

Sameer Wankhede Gets Clean Chit From Scrutiny Committee In 'Fake Caste Claim'
The Mumbai district scrutiny committee has issued a clean chit to former zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede, in August 13. Wankhede was accused by ex-minister Nawab Malik, alleging that Wandkhede faked his caste to secure the prestigious central government job. In response, Wankhede has stated, "I have complete faith in judiciary and the state of Maharashtra".

Nawab Malik & Anil Deshmukh Petition SC For Permission To Vote In MLC Elections
Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh have appealed to Supreme Court to be allowed to vote in Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. Both politicians are presently detained and have filed an appeal against the Bombay HC's June 17 decision. "It is not inclined to accede to the broad proposition that permitting the persons (who are otherwise not qualified to vote in the election) to vote strengthens the democracy," Bombay HC ruled.

Bombay HC Declines Bail Pleas Of Malik, Deshmukh To Vote In MLC Elections
The Bombay High Court on June 17 denied Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik's requests for interim release. NCP Leaders Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik had applied for interim release in order to vote in the forthcoming MLC elections on June 20. The High Court on June 10 denied Malik any immediate relief, stating that the context of his appeal was for bail.

Mumbai Court Rejects Bail Plea Of Nawab Malik, Anil Deshmukh
The Mumbai Court rejected the bail plea of Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh, both NCP leaders, on June 9. Notably, Malik and Deshmukh filed a petition seeking bail for one-day, in order to vote in the Rajya Sabha. The lawyers of the leaders demanded a copy of the orders, to approach the Bombay High Court. Moreover, Malik and Deshmukh are registered with the Enforcement Directorate in the money-laundering cases.

NCP Leader Nawab Malik's Wife, Son Summoned Multiple Times & None Appeared, Says ED
NCP leader Nawab Malik's wife and son were reportedly summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the ongoing money laundering probe, but they failed to appear. In a chargesheet filed by ED, it was mentioned that his wife Mehjabin was summoned twice and son Faraj Malik was summoned five times, for which they failed to appear. Malik has been accused in a money laundering case with alleged links to Dawood Ibrahim.

SC Rejects Bail Plea Of NCP Leader Nawab Malik
The Supreme Court (SC) rejected the bail plea of NCP leader Nawab Malik on April 22. The Apex Court bench led by DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant said, "We can't interfere with the due process at this stage". The court also asked Malik's advocate to file a fresh bail plea before the special Bombay court. Notably, Nawab Malik is in ED's judicial custody for investigation in a money laundering case.
