P Chidambaram Gets Called 'Dalaal' By Protesting Lawyers Outside Court

Rajya Sabha MP P Chidambaram received backlash, as he was leaving the court, on May 4. A group of lawyers who allegedly belonged to the Congress cell of the court, chanted slogans, calling Chidambaram 'Dalaal' (sympathiser) to the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal. The protestors also held the MP responsible for Congress' poor state of affairs in the state.

Limit BSF Within 50 Kms, Mamata Banerjee To Cooch Behar Police

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked Cooch Behar police to restrict Border Security Force (BSF) beyond 50 km from the international border. On April 27, Banerjee said, "they are entering the village, killing people and throwing them on the other side". She further asked the BSF to take local police in confidence while on any operation. Notably, WB and Central Government are in a fight over the BSF act.

Ex Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora Appointed As TMC President Of Assam Unit

Former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora has been appointed as the Trinomool Congress (TMC) party's president of the Assam Unit, on April 24. Bora had quit the Congress party to join TMC, a week ago. TMC, over a Tweet, announced the appointment of Bora. "We are pleased to share that our Hon'ble Chairperson Smt Mamata Banerjee has appointed Shri Ripun Bora as the Assam unit's state president," read the Tweet.

WB CM Takes Dig At BJP Over Central Probe Agency, BJP

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee took a dig at the BJP for launching a central probe in non-BJP state. Criticizing the BJP for sending CBI agency to WB Banerjee said, "No matter how much you do conspiracy by using CBI, ED, don't think us weak". Notably, the BJP-led Central Government ordered a CBI probe in the recent Birbhum violence, leading to the death of eight people in Birbhum.

ED Issues Fresh Summons To Abhishek Banerjee In Coal Scam: Kolkata

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of CM Mamata Banerjee in connection to a money laundering case linked to an alleged coal scam in West Bengal. ED stated that new evidence has been gathered against Abhishek. Abhishek had been summoned by ED on March 21 and on September 6, 2021. The coal scam is related to illegally mines coals being sold in the black market.
