Mizoram: African Swine Fever Kills 4,650 Pigs In 2 Months
Mizoram has been facing a grave threat in form of the African Swine Fever (ASF) that has claimed the lives of at least 4,650 pigs in the last two months in the state. Moreover, the outbreak affecting nine districts, including 91 villages, has resulted in a loss of Rs 18.60 crore. Reportedly, the first pig death due to ASF in Mizoram was registered on March 21.

Massive Forest Fire Erupts In Mizoram; Air Force Called For Rescue
The forests of Mizoram's Lunglei town are reeling through an inferno since April 25. Reportedly, the raging fire has crept in Lawngtlai district as the wildfire burned for more than 24 hours. The incident is believed to have occurred due to Jhum cultivation. Currently, the locals and governments agencies have been trying to tame the flames. Meanwhile, Indian Air Force has deployed Mi-17V5 choppers to douse off the fire.

Mizoram On Swine Fever Alert After 87 Pigs Die On India-Bangladesh Border
Mizoram is on an alert after 87 pigs died in Lunglei’s Lungsen village in the last two weeks. The exact reason is still unclear, experts suspect African Swine Fever behind the deaths. Over 250 Myanmarese Enter India As Myanmar Military Turn Coercive
At least 264 Myanmarese, including 198 Myanmar police officials, have crossed the north-eastern border of India to enter Mizoram amid worsening political turmoil in Myanmar. After the February 1 coup, the Myanmar Military authorities have killed at least 70 people and have been "beating and torturing" protesters. While Indian authorities have reportedly "pushed back" eight Myanmarese, dozens of the latter await to enter Indian territory.

Mizoram: Firecrackers To be Strictly Prohibited During Christmas & New Year's Eve
The Mizoram Cabinet has planned to prohibit use of firecrackers on the eve of Christmas and New Year, in-order to minimise the emission levels that could intensify COVID-19 and respiratory issues. A ban on sky lanterns, toy guns and other pyrotechnics has been imposed after the meeting held on November 24, hosted by Home Minister Lachamliana. There are 452 active Covid-19 cases in the province out of 3,710.

Assam-Mizoram Dispute Intensifies As Assam School Attacked With Bombs
Amid the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram, a primary school in Assam's Cachar district was allegedly attacked with bombs by the miscreants from Mizoram. The bomb blast took place in the late hours of November 6. The Assam government officials informed that they had tightened the security in the area.
