SII Adar Poonawalla Speaks About Monkeypox Vaccine In India

As monkeypox cases are rising in India, the Serum Institute of India (SII) which manufactured the Covid-19 vaccine, spoke about the possibility of a monkeypox vaccine in India. SII CEO Adar Poonawalla said, "We are talking to Novovax. We really need to see whether there will be a lot of demand or whether in three to four months it fizzles out." Monkeypox Case Suspected In Uttar Pradesh, Samples Sent To Lucknow's KGMU

In Uttar Pradesh, a suspected case of monkeypox has been reported. On July 26, in Aurraiya district, a woman was suspected to be monkeypox positive, and her samples were sent to Lucknow's King George's Medical University for further testing. Superintendent Dr Siddharth Verma confirmed the developments, including that the suspect doesn't have any travel history and is suffering from fever and monkeypox-like symptoms for one week.

Centre Hosts High-Level Meeting As India's Monkeypox Total Rises To 4

Centre said on July 24 that a 34-year-old man from Delhi with no history of overseas travel had tested positive for monkeypox virus, making him the fourth instance of the disease identified in India. "A high-level review of the situation has been planned by the Directorate General of Health Sciences at 3 pm Sunday," the Ministry of Health said. Three cases of monkeypox have previously been documented in Kerala.
