In Barabanki region, two alleged drug peddlers were arrested, confirmed police. During the search, the police also sized over one kilogram of morphine estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore on April 8. The search was conducted on a tip-off by the Ramsanehighat police, following which the accused, identified as Asharam and Harjeet were arrested from an intersection near Thorthia village. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
In Mizoram’s Aizawl, police seized 374 grams of heroin, which is estimated to be valued at Rs 1.87 crore in the International market, on September 17. The police also arrested a 43-year-old woman and seized the drugs from her possession. Reportedly, the drugs were packed in 29 soap cases. The accused has been identified as Rohlupuii, a resident of Aizawl. Further details are awaited.
An interstate drug racket has been busted in Hyderabad, following which eight people have been arrested, said Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing on September 1. The officials seized 140 grams of Charas/Hash, 184 Blots of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and 10 grams of MDMA, among others worth Rs 9 lakh. Furthermore, the accused were using Dark Web for drug supplies, with cryptocurrency and other hidden apps to deliver the substances
In Maharashtra's Palghar, police arrested five drug peddlers and seized 703 Kg of MD drugs in Nalasopara town. Anti-Narcotics cell DCP Datta Nalawade tweeted about the in incident. He further stated that the seized consignment of drugs are worth at least Rs 1,400 crore in the narcotics drug market. Reportedly, the seizure is one of the largest in recent times.
Officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Assam police, in a joint operation, seized narcotic drugs worth Rs 15 crore, in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, on August 2. The officials acting on a tip off, arrested three persons at a checkpoint. The accused, who were transporting the drugs in a Bolero, reportedly possessed one of the purest forms of heroin and other drugs.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the goal of drug-free Devbhoomi will be achieved by the year 2025. The statement has come in a meeting with the Narco Coordination (NCORD) at the secretariat, on July 29. In Assam's Karimganj district, along the Assam-Tripura borders police seized 1000 kg of ganja from two dumper trucks in the Churaibari area. Reportedly, the trucks which were coming from Tripura were stopped and checked by the police. While checking a secret chamber was found. Jammu and Kashmir Defence Spokesperson Col Devender Anand, on January 21, confirmed to recover 31 kgs of narcotics. Notably, during a search operation on January 19-20, based on intelligence input, the Union Territory (UT) police and army launched an operation in poonch region and recovered 31 kgs of narcotics near Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir.
