Family Of 4 Sri Lankan Refugees Arrive At Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram Via Boat
In Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram, a family of four Sri Lankan Tamils arrived at Mandapam district, calling themselves "refugees", on August 13. The four were mother and three children, who reportedly hailed from Sri Lanka's Trikonamalai. Reportedly, the family arrived at Ramanathapuram's beach area via boat, at around 4 am. Over 134 Sri Lankan refugees have arrived so far, informed Q branch police.

Thailand has allowed for the temporary stay of Ousted Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Rajapaksa who fled the island nation after people outran his residence and demanded for his resignation, has seeked refuge in Thailand, after his stay in Singapore comes to an end. Thailand PM Prayut Chan-o-cha has allowed Rajapaksa's stay since it is a "humanitarian issue", and stated that he can stay till he finds a permanent refuge.

Women Entering Prostitute Business To Survive Amid Sri Lanka Economic Crisis
Amid the worst economic crisis, many women are entering the prostitute business, makeshift to brothels in Sri Lanka. Sex Workers' right organisation Stand-up Movement Lanka (SUML) said, in the past few months there has been an increase of 30% in brothel business. SMUL CEO said, "Women working in the textile industry are resorting to 'sex work' after being fired due to the economic crisis" with the only way to survive.
