Terming Christian Michel's arrest as violation of the human rights, the United Nations has asked the Indian government to immediately release him. A report by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization assessed that over 3 billion people are facing water scarcity, thus warned hunger and food shortages. The report highlighted that 60% of crop production and 80% of cultivable land are rainfed, hence demands sustainable use of water resources. It mentioned that food production techniques should be changed in order to lessen the emission of greenhouse gasses and prevent climate change.
