59,995 Births Recorded In India On Jan 1; Highest Among All Countries
Making a record, India accounted for 59,995 births out of global figure of approximate 3,71,504 baby births on the New Year’s Day. UN Study States Water Shortage May Worsen Food Crisis
A report by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization assessed that over 3 billion people are facing water scarcity, thus warned hunger and food shortages. The report highlighted that 60% of crop production and 80% of cultivable land are rainfed, hence demands sustainable use of water resources. It mentioned that food production techniques should be changed in order to lessen the emission of greenhouse gasses and prevent climate change.
