CRPF Jawans Become 'Brothers' In Martyred Soldier's Sister's Wedding: UP
The wedding of Joyti, a sister of martyred CRPF soldier Shailendra Pratap Singh, became special when CRPF jawans came to perform all the rituals on behalf of her late brother in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli. The jawans reportedly presented gifts and carried the veil above her. ''My son is no longer in this world but now we've so many sons in the form of CRPF soldiers,'' said Singh's father.

Wasim Rizvi Becomes Harbir Narayan Singh Tyagi; Coverts To Hindu: UP
Wasim Rizvi, UP Central Shia Waqf Board Chairman, on December 6 converted to Hindu, leaving Islam. Mahant Narasimha Ananda Sarawati of Dasna Temple helped Rizvi to change his religion. After conversion, Rizvi took a new name, Harbir Singh Narayan Tyagi. He also announced his will to be cremated as per Hindu rituals, instead of being buried and said his pyre to be lit by the Temple's Mahant in Ghaziabad.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple Closed For 2 Days; Construction Work Underway
In Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, Kashi Vishwanath Temple has been closed from November 30 till December 1 to complete construction work within the premises. Reportedly, the work of polishing the new marbles is going on. Earlier in November, CM Yogi had also installed a rare idol of Maa Annapurna Devi at the temple which was stolen about 100 years ago. The idol was recently retrieved from Canada.

UP Govt To Allow Only Vaccinated People At Annual Magh Mela 2022
UP's Annual Magh Mela, scheduled in Jan 2022 will be open only for fully vaccinated people, said UP CM Yogi Adityanath. Considering the rising COVID cases the devotees with a double or single dose of vaccine will only be allowed. However, all the arrangements have been made for the Mela including, RT-PCR tests and Covid-19 vaccination centers. Moreover, the govt has sanctioned Rs 59 crores for the fest.

'Dead Man' Came Alive After Spending 7 hrs In Morturay Freezer: UP
In a bizarre incident, the 40-year-old Sreekesh Kumar, who was declared dead by doctors, came out alive after spending 7 hours in the mortuary freezer of the Moradabad district hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, Kumar was rushed to the hospital after hitting by a motorbike. The doctors declared him dead on November 18. UP Court Awards Life Sentence To Ex-Minister Gayatri Prajapati For Rape
In its judgment, a special court on November 11, awarded life sentence to a former minister in the Uttar Pradesh government Gayatri Prajapati, and two others in connection with gang-raping a woman and her minor daughter. The court also ordered each of them to pay a fine of Rs 2 lakh. Notably, Prajapati was arrested in 2017. He was the transport and mining minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government.

340 Km Long Purvanchal Express Highway To Be Launched By PM Modi Next Week
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the 340 km long Purvanchal Express highway next week, said Uttar Pradesh's industrial development minister Satish Mahana. The expressway would start from Lucknow's Chand Sarai village and end in Ghazipur's Haidariya village. The project of the expressway reportedly costed around Rs 22,494.66 crore. Notably, the expressway can also be used by Indian Air Force for landing aircrafts.

Teacher Spends Savings, Educates 2,021 Students In UP
Shashi Prakash Singh, a teacher by profession in UP, who wanted to purchase his own house in Lucknow, decided that he would fund the education of 2,021 students. Singh took this challenge as many of his students started dropping out due to impoverished family conditions in 2021, saying ''2021 is a very unlucky year''. However, Singh said, ''The house is still a dream, and I'll achieve it".

Man Hacks His Wife To Death Over Dowry In Uttar Pradesh
A man namely Manoj allegedly hanged his wife Saraswati to death following physically abusing her for dowry in public last month in UP's Tundwal village. The matter came to light when the video of the abuse was widely circulated on August 15. The deceased father gathered courage from watching the video and registered a complaint. The accused will be arrested soon, said police.
