Karnataka: Legislators to Take a 30% Salary Cut to Boost State Revenue
Karnataka Assembly, on September 22, passed 'Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020', to reduce the salaries of legislators by 30%. The bill is expected to save Rs 16-18 crore, boosting the state revenue required to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a JD(S) MLA A T Ramaswamy while accepting the ordinance, questioned the government on the approval of salary hikes of judicial officers.
