Still Not Clear If Indians Need Booster Jabs: AIIMS Director
Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS in Delhi notified that India does not have enough data to state whether booster jabs are necessary for its citizens against Covid-19. He further said, “Information is still emerging... it will take some more months.” Reportedly, the booster shot helps to increase the antibodies. However, the WHO didn't recommend the booster jabs and also termed it a ''mockery'' of rich countries.

Delhi HC Allows Termination Of Abnormal Foetus During Pregnancy
Following a request, the Delhi High Court on August 1 allowed a woman to abort her 22-week foetus due to defect and abnormality issues that also had very few survival chances. The decision was given by Justice Rekha Palli after reading the medical reports of the child's abnormality given by the AIl India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). The parents were allowed to get the pregnancy terminated at the hospital of their choice.

Vaccination For Children To Launch By September: AIIMS
According to AIIMS Chief, Dr. Randeep Guleria, vaccination for children in India is likely to start by September 2021. “Hopefully, by September, we should start vaccinating children, and that will be a big boost as far as breaking the chain of transmission is concerned," said Dr. Guleria. India Reports First Death Of Bird Flu At AIIMS Delhi
An 11-year-old boy from Haryana has succumbed to bird flu on July 20 at AIIMS, Delhi. This is reported to be the first case of the H5N1 virus, also known as “avian influenza” or “blue flu.” The staff who was in contact with the patient has been hospitalized with pneumonia and leukemia. Besides, the Centre has confirmed flu in poultry in Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, and others.

Health Experts Warn People To Follow covid-19 Rules As Festivals Nears
A day after cautioning people to follow Covid-19 rules for 125 days, Health experts from AIIMS have now warned people to be careful for the next one or two years and not to give a chance to Coronavirus to spread again. Can Prevent Third Wave If Precautions Are Met: Dr Randeep Guleria
AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said that the third wave of COVID-19 may not even occur if the norms & precautions are actively met. Also if India can vaccinate a significant number of people relatively soon, the chances of the third wave can be nullified, Guleria added. However, areas with the highest number of cases need to be aggressively addressed to combat spread furthermore.

Fire Breaks Out Near Operation Theatre At AIIMS Delhi
A fire broke out in a storeroom adjacent to the operation theatre in AIIMS, on June 28. The fire was brought under control very quickly and no casualties were reported. Subsequently, seven fire tenders were dispatched. Reportedly, the Hauz Khas Police received a PCR call at 5:15 am. No casualties or injuries have been reported and the area has been reopened, said the police.

COVID-19 Vaccines For Children Above 2 Years To Be Available Soon
Director of Delhi AIIMS Dr. Randeep Guleria has revealed that Vaccines for Children are likely to be available in September, 2021. Further, he said the phase 2/3 trials are being conducted by Covaxin and the data will be available by September, this year. If the vaccine found effective and safe, approval is also expected in the same month. However, the trials only involve children between 2 to 17-year-old.

The COVID-19 third wave in India is inevitable and might hit in the next six to eight weeks according to AIIMS Chief, Dr Randeep Guleria. COVID-19 Is A Respiratory Virus, Comes In Multiple Waves: AIIMS Director
Considering the eased restrictions of COVID outbreak, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria cautioned that human behaviour will play an important role in the containment of Corona virus. During a press brief, he said although the cases have declined which doesn't mean that the virus has disappeared. "COVID-19 is a respiratory virus and comes in multiple waves," he added.
