Immunization Drops By 60% As States Claim Scarcity Of Doses

The shortage of vaccine supply has resulted in a decline of immunization by nearly 60%, shortly after the Centre took over-vaccination procurement. Reportedly, on June 27, over 4 crore people were vaccinated in India. However, during July 5-11, only 2.3 crore people were administered. At least 80 lakh doses have to be administered every day to meet the Centre's deadline of vaccinating all Indians by the end of 2021.

Kerala Records Over 100 Fatalities Daily; Reports 12,469 Cases On June 18

Kerala recorded 12,469 cases on June 18, 13,270 cases on June 17, 12,246 on June 16, raising up the total number of cases in India. Despite the fact that the incidence curve has peaked and is presently declining, Kerala continues to record an excess of over 100 fatalities per day. Apart from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were also reporting more than 10,000 daily cases as of June 15.

Online Pre-registration For COVID Vaccine Not Required, Says Govt

The Health Ministry on June 15 stated that anyone who is 18 years of age or above can go to their nearest vaccination centre for the vaccine. However, an online pre-registration will not be required anymore. The government had issued a similar notification earlier. Besides, this decision was made to specifically counter the 'vaccine hesitancy' cases which reported people hiding or resorting to violence in UP and MP respectively.

UP Government To Soon Vaccinate All Eligible In The State Against COVID-19

Promising vaccine for those aged 12-18, the UP CM Yogi Adityanath on May 26 stated that all eligible people in the state will be vaccinated against Covid. At present, the people above 18 years of age in the state are being inoculated against the Covid-19 infection. Besides, CM Adityanath also said that the government is working over a plan to tackle with diseases like encephalitis and dengue.

Karnataka Govt To Resume Vaccination Drive For 18-44 Year Old

The Karnataka government has announced the resumption of vaccination drive for the people aged 18-44 from May 22. Earlier, the drive was supposed to start on May 12. According to the government, the frontline warriors will be given the first preference, followed by other eligible groups in the state. However, the district authorities will decide the number of vaccination sites and vaccinations to be given per day.

Delhi HC Slams Centre, Asks To Prioritise Foreign Vaccine Procurement

In a plea that came up on May 18, the Delhi HC slammed the Centre for being negligent towards the collaboration and procurement of COVID-19 vaccines from foreign countries.
