Engineering Courses From IITs, NITs In Mother Tongue From 2021
The Education Ministry on November 26 announced that the IITs and the NITs would offer engineering courses in mother tongue. The decision, taken at a high-level review meeting, will come into effect from the next academic session. "A few IITs and NITs are being shortlisted for the same," a senior official said. IIT Mandi Introduces 'Atuvik' Stove to Reduce Pollution; Prices Start At Rs 4500
To curb air-pollution and usage of firewood, The faculties of IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh have launched a new cooking stove, 'Atuvik'. The product is primarily developed for regions at higher altitudes. The affordable cooking stove, which is priced between Rs 4500-Rs 10,000, helps to increase the availability of oxygen for combustion. The product has won a social innovation award and support from the state government as well.

Bihar: Patwatoli Village Has An Engineer In Almost Every Household
In an unusual story, almost every household of the Patwatoli village in Gaya district of Bihar has either an IIT student or an IIT alumni. From the village, in which about all the families are involved in gamcha and bedsheet weaving businesses, a total of 250 students have cracked into the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). COVID-induced JEE Advanced Dropouts Allowed To Reappear Next Year
The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to allow 'JEE Advanced 2020' dropouts to reappear in 2021. This is for those who failed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2020 after registration due to the pandemic. The candidates will not have to appear for the JEE Mains 2021 and the existing eligibility criteria will be followed. Reportedly, only 1.5 lakh of the 2.5 lakh eligible candidates had appeared for the examination.

Himachal's Shoolini University Ranks 3rd In the Country In Patents' Filing
Himachal’s Shoolini University has bagged third rank in the country in patents' filing. Notably, of the 193 patents filed from Himachal Pradesh last year, 185 were from Shoolini, a 10-year-old private-owned Biotech University. In the study by the Office of Intellectual Property, the first position was secured by the IITs. However, all 23 IITs were considered as one group. Shoolini has filed over 400 patents since its commencement in 2009.
