IAS Officer Pooja Singhal Arrested In Money Laundering Case: MNREGA Funds Scam

Jharkhand mining secretary Pooja Singhal has been arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection to a money laundering case, on May 11. The money laundering probe is linked to alleged embezzlement of MNREGA funds and various other charges. Singhal's arrest has come after ED gathered evidence against her following the arrest of Chartered Accountant Suman Kumar on May 7. About Rs 17.1 crore was recovered from the premises of Kumar.

IndiGo Offers To Buy Wheelchair For Teenager Who Was Denied Access To Board Flight

After a teenager with special needs was barred from boarding a flight in IndiGo airlines, the management expressed their "sincere regrets" and offered to buy the teenager an electric wheelchair, on May 9. The incident reportedly occurred at Ranchi airport on May 7, when the teenager and his family was denied access to board the plane. The airlines claimed that it was for the safety of other passengers.

2 Arrested For Rape & Murder Of 20-Year-Old In Hazaribagh: Jharkhand

Vimal Kumar (22) and Lal Pratap (20) have been arrested by Jharkhand's Hazaribagh police, for the rape and murder of a 20-year-old girl, on May 8. The incident reportedly occurred on May 7, following which, the girl's body was tossed into a pond. According to the police, both the accused have admitted to the crime. A case has been registered under section 376D, 302, 201 and 34 of IPC, reported ANI.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Tata Steel Factory In Jamshedpur; At Least 2 Injured

Following a blast in a battery, a massive fire broke out at a coke plant of Tata Steel factory in Jamshedpur, on May 7. Following the incident, two employees who sustained minor injuries were admitted to a hospital, and another person who complained of chest pain was also admitted. Reportedly, several fire tenders and ambulances rushed to the spot to douse the fire and provide assistance.

Sleeper Cell Suspected In Lohardaga Violence: Jharkhand

In Jharkhand's Lohardaga violence, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Arvind Kumar Lal suspected the role of sleeping cells, trying to disturb the harmony of the region. Continuing the investigation of the Ram Navami clash, Lal said, "The clash is not a result of sudden development but seems to be pre-planned and there's a conspiracy behind this". However, the SDO said, it is improper to say anything now as the investigation is underway.

Watchman Stabbed To Death In Jharkhand, Investigation Underway

In Jharkhand's Palamu district, a watchman named Lokendra Bahadur was stabbed to death. On April 13, the state police confirmed the incident and said Bahadur, a native of Achham district (Nepal) was murdered on the night of April 12, while he was on duty. His body has been sent for postmortem. Furthermore, the SDPO of Chhatarpur Ajay Kumar launched an investigation and is on the hunt to nab the accused.

Jharkhand Govt Announces Rs 5 Lakh Ex-Gratia To Deogarh Accident Victims

During a high-level meeting, the Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to the victims of Deogarh accident and Lohardaga violence. On April 12, CM Soren said, the state government will provide treatment and other assistance to the victims, and ordered a high-level inquiry into both the incidents. Notably, three people died in the cable rope incident in Deogarh, whereas in Lohardaga, a man succumbed to his injuries.
