The search for wanted Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh entered the fifth day, on March 22. The Punjab Police, a team of 80,000 cops, are after Singh, who allegedly escaped the police. Furthermore, the Uttarakhand Police on Tuesday conducted a combing operation at gurdwaras, hotels and in areas on the Indo-Nepal border in Udham Singh Nagar district to nab Singh. Meanwhile, the Haryana and Punjab HC is monitoring the police.

After days of internet and SMS services suspension, the Punjab Government lifted the ban on mobile and internet services. Notably, after the chase of Amritpal Singh, a senior Khalistani leader, the Punjab Police faced protests from the supporters of Singh, leading to suspended internet and SMS services. Amritpal Singh, a self styled radical Sikh preacher and Khalistan sympathiser, has been detained in Punjab India. On March 18, after a dramatic chase, the Punjab Police arrested Singh, who is a wanted Khalistani terrorist. In an encounter that broke out on July 20 morning in Amritsar, two shooters of Sidhu Moosewala were shot dead. The encounter broke out between the Punjab Police and the gangsters, responsible for Moosewala's death.  Of the four gangsters, two identified as Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa and Jagroop Singh Roopa died at the encounter-spot, in Hoshiarpur. In relief to the BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the Punjab & Haryana HC, Justice Anoop Chitkara issued orders,"  no coercive action be taken against Bagga till the next hearing, on May 10". Notably, after failing to arrest Bagga from Delhi, the Punjab Police moved a Mohali Court seeking, a non-bailable warrant against Bagga. However, he moved the Punjab & Haryana HC, which issued an order on May 7.
