Government Tightens FCRA Rules For Foreign Funding Of NGOs

The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act’s new rules have mandated a minimum three years of operation for any NGO to procure foreign funds. NGOs must have spent at least 15 lakh on its core activities in those three years. Centre further notified that if the sum exceeds 1 crore, it should be paid in instalments only after 75% of previous instalment is properly utilised. Home Ministry Designates 18 Individuals As "Terrorist" Under UAPA

Amending the list under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Home Ministry on October 27 designated 18 more Pakistan-based individuals as "terrorists". Indian Wedding Industry Bears Burnt Of Pandemic-induced Lockdowns

The Indian wedding industry is bearing the brunt of the COVID-caused lockdowns. Rajiv Jain, Director of Rashi Entertainment said that the estimated size of the industry is about Rs 3 lakh crore, and appealed the government to use 'four square feet' formula. Another entrepreneur, Anil Thandani, stated that the employees in the industry have turned jobless, and opined that the prospects of weddings taking place sooner are bleak.

Gujarat tops in fake 500 and 2000 currency notes seized during 2016-19: Home ministry

According to the Data presented by the Home Ministry in the Parliament, most counterfeited 500/2000 currency notes were confiscated from Gujarat. During 2016-19, fake notes of Rs.2,000 and Rs.500 worth Rs.11.4 crores and Rs.74.38 lakhs were seized, the highest among the Indian states. Reportedly, the ruling government in 2016 announced demonetization to curb fake currency circulation, but the confiscated amount exceeded as expected.
