Punjab Police confiscated 38 kilograms of heroin from a truck in Punjab's Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar and detained two people on August 28. SPS Parmar, Inspector General of Police (Ludhiana Range), stated a squad of police officers stopped a truck after receiving a tip. During the search, officers discovered 38 kg of heroin secreted in the truck's toolbox. Kulwinder Ram and Bittu were named as the accused.
Trinamool Congress leader Ram Pyare Ram's son Ram Kinkar Ram (38) was killed in a road accident in the city's Kidderpore area, confirmed police on August 28. The incident took place around 8:40 pm after a truck coming from the opposite direction fell sideways on the sedan of Ram while travelling through Babubazar. The police have registered a case and formed teams to nab truck's driver and helper, currently absconding.
After being stranded in a tractor-trailer on a secluded back road in San Antonio, 46 people were found dead and sixteen people were hospitalized, including four children on June 27. This was the deadliest disaster involving migrants trafficked across the border from Mexico to the United States. In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, a tragic accident killed four people; Vipin Kumar (30), his wife Meenu (28), Sachin (22) and Nitin Kumar (23), and left two with severe injuries. On June 8, a speeding truck rammed into the motorcycles of the six people, while they were near the Panipat-Khatima highway in Jagahedi village. The SHO Mukesh Kumar Solanki registered a case against the truck driver, who abandoned his truck and fled.
In Uttar Pradesh's Katya village, killed seven people and four people injured due to a major accident, when an SUV carrying a marriage party rammed into a stationary truck. Police confirmed Sachin Pal (16), Mukesh Pal (35), Paswan (26), Shiv Sagar (18), Ravi Paswan (19), Pintu Gupta (25) and driver Gaurav Maurya (22) died. UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences and assured financial assistance to the victims.
The Assam police seized 3.1 kg of heroin and 85 kg of opium from a truck, on April 29. The search operation at Srirampur Gate was conducted after receiving a tip-off. The truck was coming from Manipur and the drugs were kept in the oil tank of the truck, which was being taken to North India. The Assam police said, "We apprehended one person. Our investigation is on".
In a tragic incident, a truck rammed into a group of protestors in J&K's Udhampur district, killing three and leaving three others injured, on April 8. The protestors had staged a protest demanding the water supply in the area to be fixed. The truck driver wrongly calculated the blind curve and hit the group of protestors, reported PTI. Reportedly, the injured are being treated, with one in critical condition.

To curb air pollution in Delhi, five coal-fired power plants have temporarily been shut around the capital by the government. A truck rammed into the bike on Gandhi Setu in Patna, Bihar on July 5, resulting in the death of a pregnant woman and her two-year-old daughter, leaving the husband critically injured. The husband was rushed to Hajipur Sadar hospital. Reportedly, the truck ran over the mother and daughter when the family was going to Phulwari Sharif in Patna from Hajipur. The driver of the truck was arrested, informed the police.
