Cargo Boat Sinks Due To Bad Weather In Indonesia; 17 Rescued, 25 Missing
A cargo boat carrying at least 42 people on board sank in Indonesia, while traveling from a seaport in Makassar to Kalmas Island in Pangkep Regency, on May 29. The boat sank due to bad weather, which is said to be common in the aforementioned region. About 17 people have been rescued, while 25 others have gone missing. Search and rescue operations have been initiated and further details are awaited.

Indonesia To Lift Palm Oil Export Ban, Says President Joko Widodo
Indonesia announced to lift its palm oil exports ban on May 23. The decision was taken by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, which is said to be a major relief for global vegetable oil markets, which reached a massive hit in the past few weeks. Joko said, the decision was taken considering 17 million people, and farmers suffering from the ban. The ban was imposed on April 28, amid Ukraine-Russia war.

6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake has hit the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Neither any casualty, nor any loss of property, has been reported so far. Sharing details about the earthquake, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) wrote in a tweet that the earthquake had hit 779 kilometres NNE of Kotamobagu in north Sulawesi on 19th April at 6:53 IST. School Principal Sentenced To Death For Raping & Impregnating Multiple Minors
Herry Wirawan, an Islamic boarding school principal in Indonesia, was sentenced to death by an Indonesian High Court, for allegedly raping at least 13 young girls. Reportedly, he raped girls between 11-14 years of age, during 2016-2021, at hotels, schools and apartments. As per sources, at least nine babies were born out of the rapes. The court ordered a set of protection measures for the babies and the victims.

Massive Earthquake Hits Western Indonesia; 10,000 Buildings Destroyed, 7 Dead
A massive earthquake measuring 6.1 magnitude in the richter scale, hit Indonesia's Western province of West Sumatra, on February 25. Bali To Reopen For Foreign Travellers From Feb 4
Bali is reopening from February 4, and the quarantine period is reduced to five days from the earlier seven for jabbed tourists. As per reports, the country seeks to sustain economic recovery and revive tourism. The decision came three months after Indonesia allowed nationals from a handful of countries to enter Bali and the Riau Islands. Earthquake Magnitude Of 5.6 Strikes Indonesia's Maluku
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said that an earthquake magnitude of 5.6 struck in the eastern province of Maluku on December 16. The epicenter of the quake was recorded at 163 km southwest of Maluku Barat Daya district, as per UNI. The depth of the quake is said to be 26 km under seabed. So far, any death and damage to property haven't been reported.
