Over 50% Of J&K Detainees Under UAPA, PSA Are Still In Jail, Report Claims
Official reports revealed that more than 2,300 people were booked in J&K under the UAPA in 2019 with 46% of them still in jail. Similarly, 30% out of the 954 people under the Public Safety Act (PSA) are still locked up. However, around 5500 people were detained in 2019 as preventive custody under section 107 of the CrPc, which has been released as per the Home Department.

Govt: Not Enough Funds To Pay Rs 4 Lakh Ex-gratia To Covid-19 Victims
In a response to a plea of paying Rs 4 lakh as compensation to all families with a deceased member, the Ministry of Home Affairs told Supreme Court that "Government resources have limits". Furthermore it stated that, paying lakhs to each of the families would deplete the disaster relief fund and do more harm than good. "It will affect the pandemic response on other aspects," said the Ministry.

Centre Invites Non-Muslim Refugees To Apply For Indian Citizenship
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on May 28 commenced the application-collecting process from non-Muslim minorities residing in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan for the Indian citizenship. MHA Provides Work From Home Option For Officers
With rising Covid-19 cases in Delhi, the Ministry of Home Affairs has put forth a work-from-home option for 50% of its undersecretary level officers on April 16. But deputy secretary and employees above that rank will have to report to the office anytime between 9 am to 10 am to avoid rush during the commute. Employees from containment zones have been exempted from coming to the office.

Steep Hike In Cybercrime, Over 93,000 Cases Surfaced In 2017-19: Govt
