Punjab Police confiscated 38 kilograms of heroin from a truck in Punjab's Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar and detained two people on August 28. SPS Parmar, Inspector General of Police (Ludhiana Range), stated a squad of police officers stopped a truck after receiving a tip. During the search, officers discovered 38 kg of heroin secreted in the truck's toolbox. Kulwinder Ram and Bittu were named as the accused.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Prem Prakash, a close aide of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, in Jharkhand's illegal mining case. The arrest was made after multiple raids carried out by the ED in connection with the illegal mining case. During the raid,  the ED recovered two AK-47s, 60 cartridges and two magazines from Prakash's house. Police reported on August 20 that sixteen individuals had been detained in connection with a death threat received by state Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah. "9 people have been arrested in Kushalnagar and 7 in Madikeri, all of whom will be produced before the magistrate court," stated the Kodagu Superintendent Capt Aiyappa MA. The arrests came after the Congress leader got death threats as a result of his statements against Veer Savarkar.

The Jharkhand Congress is in the midst of a political uproar caused by the Bengal police's arrest of three party legislators with substantial amounts of cash. After the trio were detained and a purported attempt to overthrow the government was thwarted, the party appeared to be serious. Congress is likely to propose a motion to remove the arrested MLAs from office.

Five persons have been detained in West Bengal, including three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand. The MLAs were discovered with Rs 50 lakh cash in their vehicles.
